Along with bringing the Church together around a biblical mission vision, we are called to equip congregations for effective, cooperative ministry.  We do this through workshops, conferences, consultations and coaching.

Upcoming Workshops/Conferences

April 17, 2008 (Thursday evening).  Say What?: Living in a Multi-Cultural World - Globalization is more than an abstraction.  For many of us, living with folks from other cultures is a daily experience.  Friends, family, co-workers, clerks, bosses...we bump into folks who seem to be living in a different world.  This workshop will give some help in relating to people from other cultures by assisting you to see your own culture more clearly, by giving some understanding of how folks from other cultures think, and by passing on some tools for handling cross-cultural conflict.

May 3, 2008.  Gospel Wildfire - From Jesus’ ministry in an obscure part of the Roman Empire 2,000 years ago, the Gospel has spread to every corner of the earth.  From 120 frightened disciples gathered in an upper room in Jerusalem, over two billion people are presently following Jesus as their Lord.  Come learn how the Gospel has spread like a wildfire from nation to nation, tribe to tribe.

June 7, 2008.  Disciple the Nations - Walk through key biblical passages that reveal God’s heart for the world.  From His calling of Abraham and the people of Israel, to Jesus sending out His apostles, to John’s glimpse of heaven, the Bible’s central theme is God’s passion to bless the nations.  This conference is an excellent place to start in developing a congregation's understanding of God's mission in the world.  As John Stott has said, "It is not the church of God that has a mission in the world.  It is the God of mission who has a church in the world."

Your congregation can host or co-sponsor a city-wide workshop.  Click here for more information about upcoming workshops or to let us know that you want to host or co-sponsor one:

Conferences/Workshops

We will also custom design a conference to meet your church's needs, speak at a mission conference or preach at your services.  We want to help your church become all that God intends.  We can come for a morning, a day or a weekend.  Here are some of the other workshops and conferences that we have already offered:

ACTivate: God's Church on Mission - An exploration of the church's pattern of life as described in the Book of Acts; a life that emerged as the Holy Spirit empowered God’s people for their mission in the world, and a pattern that discovered the dynamic, creative tension between an inner and outer focus, between nurture and mission.

Maximize Your Short-term Mission Experience - Let us help make your next short-term mission trip a life-changing experience.  You will receive practical help in planning, leading and debriefing a trip; looking at the entire process from the perspectives of the goers, senders and receivers. You will also gain insight into cross-cultural dynamics. If you are heading overseas at some point, this workshop will help you maximize the experience.

Sending Without Forgetting: Effectively Caring for Missionaries -  Every congregation that is supporting missionaries wants to care for them.  But few congregations have had any training.  This conference will help you ensure that the missionaries from your congregation receive the care that they need to remain healthy, holy and effective on the field.

More Than You Ever Imagined: The Church in Ephesians -  As you unpack Paul's understanding of the supernatural community created by God as His work of art, you will be amazed.  This interactive conference is a great cure for "low-living, sight-walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, worldly talking, cheap giving and dwarfed goals" (from the Zimbabwe Covenant) - after all, we are "His body, the fullness of Him who fill all in all" (1:23), "a dwelling place for God" (2:22), and "filled with all the fullness of God" (3:19).

Consultations

Effective mission requires strategic thinking.  Many congregations use the shoot-the-arrow-then-paint-a-target-around-it method of planning and evaluation.  We can take your congregation's leaders through a strategic planning process that will help them discern God's call, set realistic goals, identify resources, develop a plan and evaluate effectiveness.  Contact us for more information about our consultations and what we can do for you.

Coaching

The Ethne staff can work with pastors, boards, mission committees and other leaders in an on-going coaching relationship.  The role of a coach is to offer support, encouragement and counsel to people trying to negotiate the sometimes confusing task of leadership.  We have experience leading congregations into significant mission involvement.  We understand the joys and frustrations of that adventure.  Contact us about helping you find a way to accomplish your dreams.
